About
About Lekhak
A literary magazine for readers who want life to feel like life.
What Lekhak is
Lekhak began as a formal academic space to help students find summaries, analyses, and lines to ponder, the things that helped me get through my college days. Along the way, I added a small corner where people could write their thoughts, or where I could write my own about books, poetry, or life in general, just to keep the place alive. Now I want it to grow into something bigger: a community of readers sharing experiences and stories. It won’t be only about books. You’ll find essays, stories, poems, and interviews about travel, cooking, and all the things that make us human and connect us even more to life. For me, a magazine shouldn’t feel like a lecture, but like a conversation.
The editor

Ishika Singh
Hi, I’m Ishika. I’m an English Honours graduate, a writer, and the founder of Lekhak. I write Hindi and English poetry, short fiction, and reflective essays, and I’m especially drawn to postcolonial and feminist literature, the stories that ask who gets to speak and who gets told to stay quiet. When I’m not reading or writing, you’ll find me singing, shooting hoops, or at the gym. I’m a gym girl through and through. Lekhak is for readers, students, and anyone who loves a good story. If you’d like to send in your own piece, please do. I read every submission myself.
